A Little More About Us…

How many times have you found the prettiest looking cupcake, only to take a bite and be utterly underwhelmed by the lack of flavor and texture? We pride ourselves on making you a sweet treat that not only looks appetizing, but tastes even more delicious.

Hi! I’m Meghan, and I am blessed to have the opportunity to use my creativity and passion to not only bake and decorate delicious goodies, but also to photograph desserts that look (and taste) absolutely succulent. 

So, how did my creative interests and passion for perfection combine and lead into baking cupcakes?

Growing up working in the food industry, I always had a love of dessert and first dreamt of owning my own bakery in 2008. While working towards my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, I often found myself making a batch of fresh chocolate chip cookies for my friends as my way of taking a break from studying and relieving stress. After graduating from CCS, I began working as an assistant at a family owned photography studio in Farmington, MI. After just a few short years, my husband’s (Alex) job called him to Kansas City and I left my job at the photo studio. For almost a year, I worked at a cupcake bakery where I thoroughly enjoyed learning everything about baking cake and how to make the smoothest and fluffiest buttercream frosting. 

Upon returning to Michigan in 2015, I jumped into a new role as Office Manager at that same photography studio and quickly began learning the ins and outs of running a small business. All the while, I kept baking as a “side job.” I’ll never forget my first order, when I baked, frosted and staged over 100 cupcakes for a graduation party. Although this doesn’t seem like a big deal now, it felt like a huge undertaking then! Soon after that party, orders for cupcakes and cookies started rolling in from both family and friends. With my newfound business skillset and growing demand for my goodies, I started to think I might have something special here.

At the beginning of 2019, with the encouragement of Alex and my awesome family, I worked up the confidence to launch my own small business, Succulent LLC. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your tastes, so I can share something special that family, friends and guests will simply savor!
